Friends of the Arts Presents: Twice Grammy Award- Nominated Beethoven’s Wig
Silver Center for the Arts:
All-Ages Family Performance October 27th, 2006
Friends of the Arts Regional Arts Council is thrilled to present Beethoven’s Wig, the award-winning classical music sensation for the whole family, Friday, October 27th at the Silver Center for the Arts in Plymouth. Beethoven’s Wig creator Richard Perlmutter and his featured vocalists, accompanied by a live orchestra, will create their unique zany, sing-along symphony experience that’s a joy for all ages. With whimsical renditions of familiar classical pieces by beloved composers including Beethoven, Schubert, Verdi, Brahms, Chopin, Strauss, Dvorak and more, each piece provides a lighthearted lyrical and musical look at the composition and its composer. Beethoven’s Wig, nominated twice for a Grammy Award, is sure to be a laugh out loud experience. US News & World Report says of Beethoven’s Wig, “The lyrics are truly hilarious” and The Los Angeles Times comments, “a remarkably witty, informative mix of entertainment and music education.” Entertainment Weekly says, “The playful lyrics will stay in your head long after the music has stopped.”
The concert will feature songs from all three Beethoven’s Wig CDs. The three CDs and the Beethoven’s Wig book, released earlier this year, have won a combined total of 35 national awards from such prestigious organizations as Parents’ Choice, American Library Association, NAPPA, Oppenheim Toy Portfolio, Teachers’ Choice, and iParenting Media to name a few. Among the most-awarded children’s recordings ever, these Sing Along Symphonies have been featured on NBC’s “Today” show and National Public Radio’s “Morning Edition” and “All Things Considered.”
The Beethoven’s Wig concert is Friday, October 27th at 7pm in the Silver Center for the Arts with an interactive Pre-Reception at 6:15pm for families to “meet the composers” and a Q&A with the Artists immediately following the show. For tickets, please call (603) 535-ARTS (2787) or visit www.friends-of-the-arts.org. Reserved seating tickets are prices at $30-$25 for adults, $28-$23 for seniors and $19-$14 for children, with discounts available for Friends of the Arts members.
