School Programming

What is the Friends of the Arts School Programming?

Friends of the Arts School Programming brings authors, musicians, dancers, visual artists, and actors from around the corner and around the world into schools throughout Central and Northern New Hampshire. The idea began with the sense that schools in this area found it difficult to travel to cultural centers for the arts, so…we would bring arts and cultures to the schools.

The program, formerly named Art Encounters Education for Schools, started with just one school in 1973. Today our programs are offered to more than 40 schools reaching over 8500 students each year, and making connections to on-going classroom topics, themes, and goals. The more we make connections across curricula, the more we see the power of the Arts as a tool for motivating all kinds of students to participate and learn.
