The 2008 Jurors:
Patricia Belt: Is the Coordinator of the New Hampshire Allstate Art Festival. Patsy taught art in the Hudson School district for thirty-three years before retiring. During that time she served on the board of the NH Scholastic Art program. She has judged student art work for the Mass Scholastic program and continues to assist judging in the NH Scholastic program. After retiring she took the position at the Currier to coordinate the wonderful Art Allstate program for high school juniors. Terry Downs: Is a Professor of Art at Plymouth State University since 1971. He received his BA and MA from the University of Miami and his MFA from Florida State University. Since arriving at PSU he has taught printmaking, studio fundamentals and several team-taught Integrative Studies courses and was instrumental in founding the Plymouth Area Friends of the Arts. He has served as president of the New Hampshire Art Association and its acting director. He was awarded a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship to MIT and founded the Horizons Art Gallery in Campton, N.H. His drawing tours have taken him to Italy, Spain, France, Belgium, Holland, England, Ireland, Quebec, Nicaragua and Cuba. He exhibits frequently in the region and served as chair of the PSU Art Department from 1996-1999. Stephen Hodecker: A local artist and sculptor living and working in Meredith, NH. He studied at the University of New Hampshire with John Hatch and Sigmund Abeles and later in California and Florence, Italy where his classical figure style was established. His materials include oil, watercolor, egg tempera and pastel. His work, both landscape and figurative, is rooted firmly in the traditions and themes of European and American realism. His primary subject matter remains rural New England, New Hampshire and the coast of Maine. However, the flag and its relationship to our culture, continues to emerge as a theme reexamined in his recent work. Carol Smiglin: The Tour and Educator Resources Administrator at the Currier Museum in Manchester, NH. Carol received her Bachelor of Science from Potsdam University and went on to get her Masters in Art Education from Antioch New England. She was an art teacher in New Hampshire for 30 years before joining the Currier museum 5 years ago. As Educator Resources Administrator she continues to have contact with students, frequently engages in art making, and coordinates and plans teacher events. |

Our policy is that no individual will be turned away from participating in our programs due to insufficient funds. |
