Annual Fall Art Show
Friends of the Arts Presents 24th Annual Plymouth Fall Art Show
Plymouth, NH (October 4, 2008)- The 24th Annual Plymouth Fall Art Show took place on the Plymouth Town Common, Saturday, October 4, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. The Art Show is presented by Friends of the Arts Regional Arts Council and Plymouth Parks and Recreation. More than twenty talented artists from all over New England displayed and sold their work. Art was judged and prizes were awarded in three categories: Oil/Acrylic; Watercolor; Photography/Mixed Media. In addition, there was live music by The Alura Ensemble, as well as face painting, refreshments and raffles.
"We have a beautiful, historic town common surrounded by small, friendly, locally owned shops, each with its own character and charm." said Matt Kizer, President of the Board of Trustees for Friends of the Arts, "The autumn foliage is at its height. Main Street set against the White Mountains in fall is a wonder on its own. Even so, it can be a busy time for most people, and we all dash around Main Street and the common getting from Rand's to the post office and then over to the bank. For one day, though, there are tents set up on the common. There is art on display and musicians playing. Everyone finds they have a little more time than they thought they had. They cut across the common, and they linger together. They engage artists in conversation. Art becomes the topic of the day, and the common becomes the social center that it perhaps was a hundred years ago. Nothing could be more appropriate for our mission than to host this event. Friends of the Arts is proud to be able to present this Art Show, along with Plymouth Parks and Recreation."
The Youth component of the Fall Art Show featured work from more than 40 children in grades Pre-K - 9. The Youth Art Show took place on Thursday, October 2, at Community Guaranty Savings Bank. It was also displayed on the town common on October 4, where many children received ribbons and prizes for their artwork.
Thanks to Community Guaranty Savings Bank, Megaprint, and Anderson's Bakery for sponsoring the Plymouth Fall Art Show, and the Pemi Youth Center for their continued involvement and support.
